Trevor Tierney

Trevor Tierney is a performance coach, educator, and former elite athlete who has dedicated his career to advancing the development of leaders, athletes, and organizations through a focus on psychology, integrity, and human growth. With a unique background that bridges world-class athletic achievement, coaching, and advanced study in developmental psychology, Trevor helps individuals and teams pursue excellence in both performance and character.

As a student-athlete at Princeton University (1998-2001), Trevor was a two-time NCAA Division I National Champion, a First-Team All-American, and winner of the Ensign C. Markland Kelly, Jr. Outstanding Goalie of the Year Award. He was also a Tewaaraton Award Finalist and earned Academic All-American recognition. Trevor went on to represent Team USA in international competition, where he was named to the All-World Team and recognized as the All-World Goalie while helping capture the 2002 World Championship Gold Medal. He later competed again in the 2006 World Games, earning a silver medal. In professional lacrosse, Trevor was the second overall pick in the 2001 Major League Lacrosse Draft. Across seven seasons (2001-2007), he was a five-time All-Star, appeared in four league semi-finals and two championship games, and won the 2005 MLL Championship with the Baltimore Bayhawks.

After his playing career, Trevor transitioned into coaching at the University of Denver (2009-2015), serving as defensive coordinator and goalie coach. During his tenure, the Pioneers reached three NCAA Final Fours and won the 2015 NCAA Division I National Championship, the first in program history.

Trevor’s passion for performance and growth is rooted in psychology and leadership development. He holds an A.B. in Psychology from Princeton University, with a concentration on childhood development, and a Master of Liberal Arts (A.L.M.) in Psychology from Harvard Extension School, with a focus on adult development. He is also certified in the Subject-Object Interview by Minds at Work (2015), the Leadership Circle Profile by Leadership Circle (2016), Growth Edge Leadership Training with Cultivating Leadership (2016), and as an Excellence With Integrity Coach by the Excellence With Integrity Institute (2024).

Trevor is the son of Hall of Fame lacrosse coach Bill Tierney and grew up immersed in a culture of coaching, leadership, and high performance. He now lives in Lyons, Colorado, with his wife, April, and their daughter, Sloane. Beyond his professional work, Trevor enjoys hunting, weightlifting, and training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, continuing his lifelong passion for testing and training mind, body, and spirit.
